Precinct Committeemen Duties

PCs have several significant responsibilities and duties:

• Represent Republican voters at the party meetings.
• Participate and attend the County Central Committee meetings/events and subcommittees.
• Develop a precinct organization for their precinct.
• Ready, willing, and able to support the Republican compaigns,
• Develop a get-out-the-vote plan for election day in their precinct.
• Identify and recommend to the County Clerk people to serve as election Judges in their precinct voting locations.

It is important for YOU to be involved in this position to serve your City, County and State. Help retain Conservative values of faith, family, and freedom in IDAHO!

Decisions are made by those who VOTE!

First Duty

• Your responsibility is to govern the direction of the County and Legislative District
Committees.
•The leadership of your committees should offer recommendations and seek support before acting.
•The Central Committee is not a rubber stamp of approval for every action.
• Ask questions at meetings and make sure you understand what you’re being asked to support.

Second Duty

You are the manpower for county events including fairs, Lincoln Days, rodeos, parades and meet & greets.

Third Duty

As Precinct Committeeman, it is your statutory responsibility to recommend people to serve as judges to work in your precinct each Election Day. This helps to ensure the election integrity in Idaho.
The weakness of Idaho elections is same-day voter registration.

Forth Duty

If a vacancy exists in a County Commissioner position, the County Central Committee provides 3 candidate names to the Governor within 15 days, who will appoint a replacement.
If a county seat, other than that of Commissioner, is vacated, the County Central Committee will provide 3 candidates to the Board of County Commissioners, who will select one.

Fifth Duty

Duty: Develop a precinct-level plan for your precinct. There IS Training for this!
APC can’t go door to door alone and be efficient:
• Divide and conquer
• Recruit a Block Captain
• Find a Volunteer Coordinator
• Event Captain
• Candidate Coordination for campaign literature drops and voter outreach

Sixth Duty

Be ready, willing, and able to support Republican campaigns between the primary and the general elections
• Coordinate with your Contral Committee for literature drops
• Participate and coordinate Meet & Greet events

Seventh Duty

Get Out The VOTE (GOTV)
• Primary turnouts average 35%
• Even year elections average 75%
Your Central Committee should be working on Get Out The Vote, including:
• Identify absentee ballot requests
• Keep track of which Republicans voted in your Precinct
• Identify poll watchers to be appointed in your Precinct
• Offer transportation to the polls

The term of office for the precinct committeemen and committeewomen shall be from the eighth day following the primary election until the eighth day following the next succeeding primary election, as outlined in Idaho Code 34-624(1) or its successor.

All officers shall enter upon their official duties immediately upon election and shall hold office for a term of two (2) years, or until their successors are elected.

Candidates for Precinct
Committeemen must be registered Republicans and should support the Idaho GOP Platform.

Chair

Presides over meetings, upholds the bylaws, and keeps them current. Chairs meetings for reorganization, selecting delegates to the State Convention, and nominating candidates to fill vacancies for county-level office.

Vice Chair

Presides over meetings in the absence of the Chair. Facilitates recruiting and filling vacant PC positions. Project manager for Lincoln Day Dinners and other events. Maintains precinct maps and boundaries.

Secretary

Takes minutes at all meetings.
Maintains and distributes agenda and minutes, as well as notices as directed. Updates and maintains PC roster.

Treasurer

Maintains accounting records.
Accepts and distributes funds as directed. Files monthly Sunshine reports.
